Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple is the only temple where the maximum number of marriages take place. Guruvayur wedding is a divine favor to start a new life together not only for the bride and groom but also for the two families with the blessings of god Guruvayur Kalyana Krishnan. The blessings of the Lord Guruvayrappan would have been with the couple throughout their entire lives.

Guruvayur Temple Marriage Procedure

• There is placed Three kalyana mandapams at the entrance of the temple for the tie-knot ceremony.
• If there is less count of wedding only one mandap will be open for marriage and if there is a rush of wedding other mandaps opens accordingly.
• 50 to 100 weddings happen on normal auspicious days but it leads to more than 200 weddings in a day on peak days.

Guruvayur Temple Marriage Registration and Procedure

1. Take the marriage ticket and photography ticket with a rate of Rs. 1000/- from the temple offering advance counter within the last 30 days period of the wedding date and same day also possible to take the receipt 3 hours before marriage time. Thali pooja will be done inside the temple with a ticket cost of Rs.100/-. Online marriage booking is available.

• The bride can wear any kind of Saree and the Groom can wear a dhoti and even a shirt, chapels are not allowed on the mandap.

• Eight members are allowed to accompany the bride and groom to enter the mandapam.

• Two photographers and two videographers are allowed to capture the wedding moments on the temple marriage platform.

• Marriage can be conducted at any time between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. At the time of the wedding, Thakil and Kuzhithalam accompany the nadaswaram performance and provide small Tulasi garlands from the temple mandap.

• Normally, the Thalikettu (tying of the sacred mangal sutra) and the exchange of tulsi garlands will be conducted in the temple mandap by Kalyana Koyma. The groom holds the bride’s hand and circumvallates the lamp on stage to complete the rituals.

• The newly married couple can’t enter the temple soon after their marriage.

• Marriage Registration could not be done in Guruvayur Temple, it will be done by Guruvayur Municipality.

• Bride and Groom Aadhar Cards, Passports, or any Govt ID photocopies for resident proof.
• Bride Parents and Groom parents Aadhar Cards Photocopies
• Bride and Grooms SSLC Certificate attested (for age proof)
• The bride’s and groom’s parents’ presence is required for enrollment.
