• Gents: dhoti (white) and shirt or kurta and pyjama.

Preparation:

• A priest conducts the Homam.
• Homams require a sanctified and clean space. This is usually found in a temple or on a home altar.
• Other materials needed for the home can include flowers, fruits, incense, rice grains, sesame seeds, camphor, and more.

Hayagriva Homam Procedure

• The ritual starts with chanting Vedic mantras that purify the environment and invoke Lord Ganesha’s blessings to remove obstacles.
• Lord Hayagriva is the main deity invoked in the sacrificial flame amidst chanting specific hymns and mantras.
• While reciting the prayers, ghee and rice are offered to the fire, as are sesame seeds and other auspicious objects.
• The priest can also perform Abhishekam, a ritual bathing of the idol, using holy water, yogurt, honey, and ghee.
• During the Homam, worshippers chant hymns to Lord Hayagriva to gain his blessings on academic success and spiritual awakening.
• The ritual ends with the distribution to devotees of prasad, or sanctified offerings.
