Kabaleeswarar Temple is also known as Kabaliwarar Temple. It is located in Mylapore (Chennai, India), and it’s a popular Hindu temple. It is one of the oldest Hindu temples in Chennai and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is a religious and cultural landmark for the region.
Pre-Wedding Rituals:
Before the wedding ceremony, various pre-wedding rituals might take place at the bride’s and groom’s respective homes. These rituals can vary based on regional customs and preferences.

Arrival at the Temple:
On the wedding day, the bride, groom, and their families, as well as their friends, arrive at the temple.

• The bride must be 18 years of age and the groom must be 21 years of age.
• The premises are only open to Hindu-arranged weddings.
• The bride and groom must both present photocopies of their Aadhar cards and caste certificates.
• Also, you must provide photocopies of Aadhar cards for both parents.
• This venue does not allow love marriages without parental consent.
• Marriage enrollment requires booking.
• If needed, separate bookings are required for wedding halls.
• The presence of the parents on either side is mandatory during the wedding ceremony.
• The temple authority will issue a marriage registration certificate.
• Booking in advance is required for wedding halls due to their limited capacity.
• The marriage registration process is only available during office hours.
• 12. The temple does not accept online bookings. Applicants must come to the temple personally to fill out enrollment forms.
• The Moolavar Sannadhi allows only Thirumangalayam ceremonies.
• The newlyweds will be blessed during Darshan and allowed to bring their families for Thirumangalyam.

Marriage Ceremony:
The main marriage ceremony takes place in front of the main deity, Lord Kapaleeshwarar, and his consort, Goddess Karpagambal. According to Vedic rituals, the temple priests conduct the ceremony.

Exchange of Garlands:
The bride and groom exchange floral garlands as a symbolic gesture of acceptance and commitment to each other.

Mangalsutra and Thaali Ceremony:
The groom ties the thali (sacred thread) around the bride’s neck, symbolizing their marital union. The chanting of Vedic mantras frequently goes along with this.

Seven Steps/Saptapadi:
The couple takes seven steps around the sacred fire, symbolizing their journey together as partners in life. With each step, they make vows to each other for a happy and fulfilling married life.

Blessings:
After the completion of the marriage rituals, the newlyweds seek blessings from the temple priests, elders, and other guests present.
